The Role:

Working as part of the UK NPD team primarily based at the Seaham site, supporting the delivery of new business opportunities and cost saving initiatives.

What will you be doing?

* Working with the wider NPD team, ensure all EPD/NPD products are operationally robust and in line with set waste levels and target costs. Develop new products, and take product ideation from concept to launch, checking internal systems work correctly and new products are developed in line with policies. Ensure all procedures are followed so products are developed safely and responsibly.

* Create/ develop new and existing recipes in the test bakery/ development kitchen for customer sample submissions/blue sky innovation/gated project development. Consider process and factory operations during product development phase to gauge product performance in factory.

* Support factory trials, capture relevant data and process settings to ensure development activities are as efficient as possible.

* Complete trial forms ensuring all data captured is documented with next step recommendations and/or conclusions. Record all associated trial and ingredient costs and share with NPD Project Manager and Finance.

* Organize samples for nutritional and micro testing, organoleptic testing, customer requests. Create QAS documents so new products can be launched to the expected standard, on time and to target costs.

* Working in conjunction with cross-functional European teams including Packaging Teams, Operations, Technical, Purchasing, Planning and Engineering departments to clearly communicate relevant development updates.

What will you bring to the party?

* Food Science based degree preferable and/or considerable experience innovation / food manufacturing (preferably with bakery experience)

* Must be a team player and able to work collaboratively with wider NPD team and numerous internal stakeholders and external suppliers/customers.

* Good organisational skills with ability to manage multiple projects.

* Previous experience in product development and / or experience in Food Manufacturing
