The Harry James Group is working with a global leader in technology, who specialize in PV inverter system solutions and energy storage equipment for residential, commercial, and utility-scale PV applications, who are looking to add to their expanding team with a Safety Manager.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Safety Manager is responsible for providing leadership and direction for the companys health and safety programs. This role represents the companys safety culture and values and demonstrates the ability to lead a progressive organization in assessing occupational health and safety risks. Develops and implements strategies that drive continuous improvement in occupational health and safety efforts for the companys employees and operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages health and safety programs / training and leads a zero-accident culture. Establishes best practice standards, continuously improves safety efforts, and partners with senior leadership on developing and implementing health and safety policies and procedures consistent in part with OSHA, NFPA rules.
Provides project-specific health and safety risk assessment, planning, training, and regulatory compliance support for large utility, EPC, IPP and C&I energy clients.
Conducts project risk assessments, job safety analyses, and job hazard analyses to determine appropriate planning, personal protective gear (PPE), required equipment, action limits, and training requirements. Prepares or coordinates preparation of project-specific health and safety plans (HASPs) and necessary Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Conducts or coordinates project site inspections to ensure health and safety requirements are met.
Manages strategies for compliance based on regulatory, client, and company business requirements. Ensures systematic methods are applied to the detection and correction of health and safety non-conformances. Develops procedures for corrective and preventive actions.
Establishes effective standards and methods for measuring health and safety performance. Partners with company leaders and project managers on safety program improvement opportunities. Sets site goals and targets and monitors progress, ensuring open communication on status and resolution.
Develops and implements effective health and safety policies and procedures and inspires continued engagement from all staff. Conducts health and safety compliance audits as appropriate.
Monitors investigation, and management process. Partners with Human Resources on injury management and return-to-work efforts.
Acts as a liaison with clients, authorities, and industry organizations so the company remains informed with respect to current industry standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in engineering, Safety, Health, or related field required. Graduate degree in industrial hygiene or occupational health or safety preferred.
Certified safety certification required.
Working knowledge of ISN reporting and vendor management process
Knowledge of OSHA and NFPA requirements related to electrical work involving LV and MV equipment and generation facilities.
5+ years of progressive experience developing, implementing, and managing Health and Safety programs, with at least 2 years of experience in a people management role. 2+ years of experience in electrical safety highly preferred, specifically collaborating with large clients posing stringent regulatory requirements.
Knowledge of the engineering and environmental remediation services highly preferred.
Proven success leading high-performance, results-driven teams and aligning those teams with organizational strategy. Demonstrated experience effectively managing multiple priorities and projects with critical deadlines, exceptional planning and organizational skills.
Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication/presentation skills with the capability to successfully advise and influence the companys management and executive teams and develop and maintain productive working relationships with individuals at all levels of responsibility.
Decisive and results-oriented, with strong business acumen, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
High level of professional integrity, accountability, and ability to build trust and credibility, address difficult issues, and effectively resolve disputes quickly and effectively.
Advanced knowledge of local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.
Advanced proficiency with MS Office.
TRAVEL:
Willingness and ability to travel 25% of the time or more to company and client locations.
