Wells-brooks are seeking several highly motivated TSSU Technicians, in possession of the HMTT 1 TSSU qualification.
The appointment is tenable ASAP, on contract terms for a period of 12 months.
The total value of the salary package is £29,317 per annum, dependent on years of experience and inclusive of allowances. Relocation assistance is provided and Economy flights from the UK to Gibraltar, return, are payable in full. Rented accommodation will be exceptionally provided for this 12 month period.
To assist in the day-to-day sterilisation, packing, sealing, labelling, issue, distribution and collection of medical devices required for clinical use.
Technicians are also required to participate in an on-call roster to provide out-of-hours emergency service.
To collect and transport used medical devices from designated users.
To assemble, dismantle, pack, check, seal, label and sterilise instruments, trays and equipment for supply to departments, wards and theatres.
To maintain and replenish stock levels of sterile and non-sterile supplies as and when required.
Handling and storage of sterile and non-sterile materials used within the department.

KEY RESULTS AREAS
To work collaboratively within established procedures and practices with colleagues and other members of the multi-disciplinary team in order to provide a safe and efficient sterile service in order to maintain and achieve the required standards.
To be aware of the responsibilities placed under the Management of Health and Safety at Work
Regulations to ensure that the agreed safety procedures are carried out to maintain a safe environment for employees, patients and visitors.
To undertake the inspection of medical devices after cleaning process has been completed and recording in log book or any other electronic recording device/computer system.
Laying up, packing and checking comprehensive sets of instruments for all surgical procedures.
Daily testing of autoclaves and recording in log book.
Checking ward pack contents and listings on the appropriate pre-printed ward list e.g. Amount of packs, Instruments collected, etc.
Prepare Ward/Theatre lists for collection and distribution.
Inputting data into the computer system.
ASSIGNMENT AND REVIEW OF WORK
Responsible for exercising excellent time management skills to effectively cover all aspects of the post.
Assist in the induction of new staff into departmental procedures and protocols.
Maintain a program of self-professional development.
Must be prepared to undertake further training both locally and abroad, if required

Ability to make judgements and decisions and prioritise own workload.
Fast track items to be given priority.
Ensure that sterile packs have not passed their use by date.
Ensure that the working environment, work surfaces and equipment is kept clean and tidy.
To immediately report any illness to the TSSU/CSSD Manager.
Take account of all health and safety regulations.
Must maintain the confidentiality of information about patients, staff and other health service business in accordance with the Official Secrets Act 1911 and 1920.
To report all accidents at work or untoward incidents promptly and when requested, co-operate with any investigations undertaken.
MOST CHALLENGING/DIFFICULT PARTS OF THE JOB
Respond positively to a workload that requires delivery to set target dates.
Work shift duties, rostered Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.
COMMUNICATIONS AND RELATIONSHIPS
Provide and receive information from wards, departments and theatres on sterile and non-sterile materials and equipment.
Answering telephone calls and ensuring written messages are conveyed to the TSSU/CSSD Manager.
Ability to work well in team, maintain professional boundaries at all times.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL, EMOTIONAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS OF THE JOB
As part of this role, you will be required to use moderate physical effort in the collection, loading and un-loading of washer disinfectors and autoclaves for long periods of time.
You will also be required to concentrate for periods of time while checking expensive, intricate and highly complex instrument sets.
You will also be exposed on a regular basis to heat, smells, noises and occasional fumes.
